A Study on the Communication, Conflict and Job Satisfaction of Nurses in Hospital Organization


Abstract
In order to enhance of nursing organization environment and manage effective nursing personnel, this paper studies communication, conflict and job satisfaction of nurses in hospital organization. The data used in this paper was collected from 202 nurses of 4 hospitals in K city. The period of data collection was from December 5, 1995 to January 9, 1996.
The results were as follows ;
1. Mean score of means of nurses communication¢¥s items in hospital organization was 2.671, and conflict¢¥s was 2.998, job satisfaction¢¥s was 2.646(maximum score is 5, respectively).
2. The differences between communication scores(p<.001), conflict scores(p<.01) and job satisfaction scores(p<.001) by 4 hospitals were statistically significant.
3. The higher in age, service duration, education level, job position was the higher communication score and job satisfaction score.
4. In organization communication category, the highest score was of "communication with superior officer"(3.132) and the lowest score was of "acceptance errors of communication"(2.365).
5. In conflict category, the highest score was of "unfair treatment"(3.630) and the lowest score was of "role discordance"(1.888).
6. In job satisfaction category, the highest score was of "relationship of colleague" (3.215) and the lowest score was of "the level of wages"(1.928).
7. The correlation between communication and conflict was not statistically significant, but between communication and job satisfaction was statistically significant(p<.000). The correlation between conflict and job satisfaction was statistically significant inversely (p<.000)
